Digital Thinking with Practical Impact, Redefining the Way We Build

Nick Craggs began his journey with SPACE in 2006 as a Part I Architectural Assistant, steadily progressing to the role of Associate Director. Over the course of his career, he has worked across retail, residential and education projects, establishing himself as a key member of the team and a consistent advocate for innovation within the practice.

Nick has led the design of several significant projects at SPACE, including Park View Student Village for Newcastle University and Travis Perkins’ WholeHouse, where he continues to develop an intelligent digital platform that streamlines the design process for SME builders. His focus on digital integration has resulted in the implementation of protocols and templates that have significantly improved SPACE Architects’ workflows.

Passionate about innovation and problem-solving, Nick combines analytical thinking with creative ambition. His commitment to refining design methodologies and improving the construction process is evident through his leadership and active knowledge sharing within the studio. Beyond his digital innovation, Nick is known for his ability to lighten the room while sharpening the thinking, blending humour with a natural confidence that draws people in.

Outside of the office, Nick brings the same enthusiasm to sport. A keen Middlesbrough Football Club supporter, he attends most home fixtures with his family in Teesside. Ice hockey is another long-standing passion; he plays for two local teams and serves as club captain of one, the North East Nomads.

With nearly two decades at SPACE, Nick’s influence extends beyond individual projects. Through his leadership and digital innovation, he continues to shape both the practice and the wider built environment industry.
