Associate Director
Caring for the Community with Every Build
A dedicated individual who is passionate about community and improving livelihoods, Andrew Woods plays a meaningful role within SPACE’s Technical Group. With a strong focus on refining office standards across project auditing, design reviews and specification writing, he brings extensive experience to his role as Associate Director.
Andrew joined SPACE over a decade ago and quickly established himself through the successful delivery of North Tyneside’s “Quality Homes for Older People” scheme. From there, he progressed to Technical Lead, acting as Project Lead on major education buildings and strengthening his influence within the practice.
Among his many contributions, Andrew played a key role in the creation of Durham University’s Teaching and Learning Centre and Newcastle University’s Henry Daysh Building, previously home to our annual _shift climate conference. His expertise in the education sector has continued through the renewal of laboratory facilities at both Durham and Northumbria Universities.
Outside of work, Andrew enjoys immersing himself in the Newcastle music scene, regularly attending gigs at venues such as The Cluny. In another life, he believes he might have pursued a career in radio, having briefly worked in broadcasting at Alnwick’s community radio station, a reflection of his creative and enthusiastic nature.
Committed to creating safe and lasting buildings that serve their communities, Andrew is a thoughtful and dependable member of the technical team.
