Since joining the SPACE Architects team, Jack Thompson and James Alexander have demonstrated a seamless integration into the practice, actively contributing to new projects and collaborating with colleagues.
As an Architect and Architectural Technologist, Jack and James share a strong commitment to creativity and innovation, enriching their respective roles and the wider team.
Jack Thompson is an enthusiastic and dedicated architect known for his thoughtful and analytical approach to building design. He studied at the University of Portsmouth and Robert Gordon University, becoming a registered Architect in 2024. Jack has experience in a number of sectors, including healthcare, office, residential, and education projects.
Jack’s fascination with architecture began in childhood, sparked by collecting landmark models and exploring historic sites. This early curiosity still influences his perspective, leading him to view buildings as integral parts of broader cultural and historical narratives.
With experience in hospital extensions, residential refurbishments, and large-scale student accommodation projects, Jack blends creativity with technical expertise and a strong problem-solving mindset.
A devoted reader of historical fiction, especially the works of Bernard Cornwell, C.S. Forester, and Terry Pratchett, Jack’s appreciation for all things vintage extends beyond his professional life. He also enjoys playing golf, watching cricket and football, and cooking, with a particular fondness for Italian beef sandwiches.
"I’m loving life here so far. I’m really enjoying setting into the team and getting to know the wider studio. I’m looking forward to getting involved in some exciting education projects and developing my career at SPACE."

James Alexander has joined SPACE as an Architectural Technologist, offering a fresh approach to building design. With a degree from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, James effortlessly applied his academic background to hands-on work, making meaningful contributions to site layouts and accessible housing projects.
James’s passion for design began in childhood, sparked by creative pursuits such as drawing and arranging spaces in The Sims. This early interest grew into a fascination with both the artistic and technical sides of architecture, enabling him to excel at blending detailed technical drawings with thoughtful, practical solutions. At SPACE Architects, James’s motivation and approachable nature make him a valued collaborator, particularly within the education sector.
James contributes detailed technical drawings and design support across projects, including work within the education sector. His thoughtful approach, motivation, and approachable nature bring a kind and engaging presence to both his work and day-to-day collaboration.

"At SPACE Architects I have really enjoyed working with the team on various School projects, helping with detail pack drawings and gaining experience in the education sector. I’m looking forward to working on upcoming projects and seeing the process of early stages of design."
