The European Women in Construction and Engineering (WICE) Awards are a prestigious set of accolades celebrating the instrumental role women play within the Built Environment. We're proud to share that our Head of Research, Catherine Sinclair, has been named a 2026 finalist in the Environment & Sustainability category, recognised among world-class professionals.

The European Women in Construction and Engineering Awards are designed to highlight exemplary women working across Europe, celebrating their contribution to the industry and the impact they are making. Open to professionals at all levels, the awards showcase leadership, innovation, and influence across a wide range of disciplines.

Catherine has been shortlisted in the Environment & Sustainability category, which recognises individuals driving meaningful change. The category celebrates those embedding sustainable thinking into practice, advancing low-carbon approaches, and contributing to a more responsible and forward-looking industry.

As Head of Research at SPACE Architects, Catherine Sinclair guides the long-term research strategy from within the practice, ensuring carbon literacy becomes ingrained. Her role is integral to the sustainability of our practice and the continued evolution of our understanding and application of environmental thinking.

Catherine's innovative work across the practice has already been acknowledged through several awards. She was awarded the G4C Future Leader Award at the National Constructing Excellence Awards, and recently recieved the Future Leader Award at the RIBA YAPF Awards.

An advocate for low-carbon design, innovative research methods, Catherine's work is both necessary and revolutionary. A key example of her work is D-CARB, an open-acces Revit plug-in that allow architects to measure carbon emissions at the earliest design stages.

Catherine continues to play a central role in advancing the practice’s approach to decarbonisation, helping translate ambition into measurable action. Her expertise, analytical rigour, and determination make her an invaluable member of the SPACE team, and the ideal finalist for the WICE awards.

Congratulations to Catherine on being named a finalist!
