“Truly collaborative and forward-thinking” are just some of the words colleagues use to describe Associate Architect Rob Gibson. Since joining SPACE Architects in 2019, Rob has played a central role within the Education Team, contributing to the delivery of major projects across the sector.

Rob is widely recognised as a catalyst for progression within the practice, leading several large-scale public sector schemes including Belle Vue Academy, Woodham Academy, the region’s first Net Zero Carbon in Operation school, and Woodlands Academy. He has also contributed to the submission of Durham Academy and, more recently, Thornhill Academy.

A fair and considered leader, Rob supports and encourages those around him, earning respect through consistency rather than volume. He actively mentors apprentices within the team and advocates for smarter, more efficient working methods, always seeking to refine how projects are developed and delivered.

Rob was recently shortlisted for the RIBA YAPF Future Leader Award, recognised for his technical ability, professionalism and dedication to nurturing talent across the practice.
