The Organising Force and Approachable Anchor of the Practice

Marie Carr is an essential member of the SPACE Architects team, working as Bid Manager while also serving as PA to the CEO, providing key administrative and strategic support. Dedicated and highly organised, she is constantly seeking ways to refine processes and streamline workflows. Alongside her operational expertise, Marie is known for her warm and approachable nature, offering a familiar and friendly presence within the studio.

Her day-to-day responsibilities are varied and span several areas of the business. For SPACE Architects, she oversees and collates all bid submissions for prospective projects. In 2025, the practice achieved a 50% success rate in bid submissions, reflecting the careful selection of opportunities pursued and the creation of considered, bespoke responses.

Marie also manages sub-consultant reviews and ongoing assessments, coordinates CPDs and Thinking Thursdays for the internal team, prepares papers and agendas for key meetings, and arranges travel and accommodation for project teams attending site visits.

Trained in First Aid and Fire Safety, Marie is often a first point of contact in a crisis. Her reliability and attention to detail ensure that operations run smoothly behind the scenes. She is someone colleagues naturally turn to for guidance and reassurance, consistently looking out for others and helping to maintain the supportive culture of the practice.

Outside of work, Marie is an avid reader who enjoys travelling, listening to music and attending theatre productions, with Matthew Bourne performances a particular favourite. A self-described minimalist, she balances the fast-paced and multi-faceted nature of her professional life with the calm of living on the North East coast, where the beach is just a short walk from her doorstep.
