Senior Architect
Community-Minded and Design-Led
A qualified architect since 2017, Leah Charlton joined SPACE Architects in 2024 and swiftly progressed to the role of Senior Architect. Her experience spans a wide range of sectors, from hotels and student accommodation to extra care, colleges and both private and volume residential developments, giving her breadth of architectural insight and technical expertise.
Leah was drawn to SPACE by its innovative use of BIM and Revit, keen to refine her skills and inspired by the practice’s clear commitment to reducing climate emissions across the industry. As a North East local, she values working within a collaborative, team-driven environment and takes pride in contributing to projects that positively impact the regional community.
Since joining the practice, Leah has played a key role in the delivery of Woodlands Academy and Thorp Academy, further strengthening her expertise and establishing herself as a dependable member of the team. Approachable and thoughtful in her manner, she has integrated seamlessly into the studio, quickly becoming someone colleagues trust for guidance and support. She takes particular satisfaction in mentoring junior team members, sharing her knowledge generously and encouraging others to grow in confidence within their roles.
Family-orientated in her personal life, and with an energetic young daughter, Leah treasures time at home. She enjoys baking, weight training and gardening, often attempting to grow her own vegetables and roses, although her daughter can frequently be found enthusiastically undoing her careful planting. Her grounded and genuine nature mirrors her professional approach, steady, committed and quietly driven.
