Architectural Technologist
Inspired by the Artistic Aspects of Architecture
Joining SPACE Architects in 2026 as an Architectural Technologist, James Alexander brings a renewed approach to building design. After graduating from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen with a degree in Architectural Technology, James began his career as a Graduate Architectural Technologist, translating his academic foundation into hands-on design work. His experience includes proposal site layouts, standard house types and accessible bungalows.
A naturally creative and curious individual, James’s passion for design began in childhood, inspired by his love of designing layouts in The Sims and experimenting with how spaces could be arranged, as well as his talent for drawing. In high school, he developed a deeper appreciation for art and graphic communication, which influenced his decision to study Architectural Technology, a field that brings together the artistic aspects of architecture with the technical and scientific principles of construction.
At SPACE Architects, James contributes detailed technical drawings and design support across projects, including work within the education sector. His thoughtful approach, motivation and approachable nature make him a valued member of the team.
Outside of work, James is a dedicated powerlifter and an avid artist, creating drawings, digital artwork and paintings. He also enjoys playing the guitar. James has settled naturally into the SPACE team, bringing a kind and engaging presence to both his work and day-to-day collaboration.
