Jade Atkins

Part I Architectural Assistant

Warmly Inspiring the Next Generation of Architects

A well-known friendly face in the office, Jade Atkins is both a passionate emerging architect and a warm, trusted member of the team. As a Part I Architectural Assistant at SPACE Architects, she is undertaking her apprenticeship alongside her studies at Northumbria University, with a particular interest in the regeneration of post-industrial areas.

Jade has contributed to several significant projects during her time at SPACE, including the upcoming Eston Project in Middlesbrough, a new retail unit that aims to combine modern infrastructure with the area’s mining heritage. She is also involved in the current Appleby Grammar School project. Acting as a driving force for positive change within the industry, Jade was recognised through a Culture Change Award and received a commendation in the tenth and final Jonathan Speirs Scholarship 2022/23.

She actively supports both the creative and technical development of the practice, taking initiative with her 3D printing skills. In addition, Jade hosts her own architecture podcast, Archipod, where she welcomes guest speakers to discuss a range of important topics, including sustainability, the role of women in architecture and wellbeing within practice. During the annual _shift climate conference, Jade can often be found behind the scenes interviewing guest speakers for Archipod and continuing the conversation beyond the event itself.

Outside of the office, Jade enjoys watching films at independent cinemas, particularly the Tyneside Cinema, and attending gigs with friends. Committed to promoting architecture in an inclusive and accessible way, both professionally and personally, she helps create a supportive environment for colleagues and the wider community.

Incredibly reliable and always happy to meet new people over a coffee break, Jade’s dedication to the practice and to her team’s development reflects the foundations of a long and successful career in architecture.
