Jack Thornton

Part I Architectural Assistant

Creative by Nature, Connected by Character

Joining SPACE as part of the 2025/26 Graduate Cohort, Jack Thornton has quickly made a confident impression as a Part I Architectural Assistant. Having recently graduated from Newcastle University, he is focused on translating academic insight into meaningful, real-world design, steadily expanding both his portfolio and technical expertise.

Working primarily on education projects across primary and further education sectors, Jack is motivated by a genuine belief in architecture’s ability to shape opportunity and community. From a young age, whether building with LEGO or sketching “dream houses” on graph paper, he knew his path would lead to architecture and design. That early curiosity has evolved into a thoughtful and purposeful approach to practice.

With interests spanning philosophy, fine art and heritage, Jack brings an inquisitive mindset to the team, balancing creativity with considered thinking. He has already become a valued member of Team 3, contributing fresh perspective while embracing the collaborative culture of the studio.

Naturally personable and easy to talk to, Jack builds connections effortlessly. This has been particularly evident at industry events and socials, where his open manner and confidence make him someone others instinctively gravitate towards. His ability to form strong professional relationships complements his growing design capability and reflects his wider enthusiasm for the built environment.

Outside the office, Jack enjoys football, cricket and motorsport, and is a regular at live music events, often sampling local craft beers along the way. The same energy and curiosity that shape his interests outside of work continue to influence his role within the practice.
