For nearly two decades, Grant Bramwell has been a cornerstone of SPACE Architects, guiding the delivery of numerous high-profile, community-focused projects. His experience spans diverse sectors, from sports, leisure and education to theatre and the performing arts, where he remains deeply involved in crafting high-quality outcomes, often through the sensitive reimagining of existing spaces. With a discerning eye for detail, Grant combines creativity with technical expertise to translate design concepts into buildings that are both durable and sustainable.

A recent highlight of Grant’s work includes the Darlington Railways Heritage Quarter (Hopetown), a heritage project involving the refurbishment and remodelling of Grade II and Grade II* listed railway buildings. Protecting the railway’s heritage while embracing a future-focused approach to cultural engagement, the project exceeded expectations and was awarded Best Museum and Cultural Venue at the North East Culture Awards.

A reliable and efficient designer with many years of experience in architecture, Grant was also entrusted with co-delivering the refurbishment of the SPACE Architects office in South Gosforth, helping to create a flexible and productive workspace for his colleagues. This enabled the positive adoption of a more organised and efficient working environment.

Extremely easy to work with, Grant builds strong and lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues. Clients place trust in his judgement, valuing his openness, steady communication and ability to make complex decisions feel clear and manageable. Away from work, Grant is an avid gym user and cyclist, enjoying the freedom that exercise brings. He also enjoys camping and exploring the local coastline with his family. His proactive nature and loyalty extend beyond his personal life, with colleagues noting his capable and approachable personality.

As an Associate Director at SPACE, Grant Bramwell remains a central member of the design team, with his name associated with many of the practice’s most recognisable projects. His contributions continue to leave a lasting impact, supporting local communities while strengthening the studio’s portfolio.
