SPACE joins Science-Based Targets initiative

We have committed and will continue to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. We want to play our part in limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and therefore, our objective is to be carbon neutral by 2023 and net-zero by 2030 using the Science-Based Targets criteria.

To be carbon neutral in our operations by 2023, we will:

• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 70% by 2023 from a 2018 base year.

• Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions by 30% by 2023 from the 2021 base year.

• Offset remaining carbon emissions via carbon reduction credits.

The Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, WRI and WWF.
Recently SPACE submitted an SME science-based target setting form in response to the SBTi's call for action.

We have since completed the review process, and our targets will be published on the SBTi, and We Mean Business websites.

“The recent extreme temperatures have brought the impact of global warming into focus. The built environment is responsible for 39% of all carbon emissions through construction and operation. For this reason, reducing building carbon emissions is a fundamental objective of the practice” - Rob Charlton, Space Group CEO
