SPACE Architects and Stockton Globe win RICS Public Sector Project category in the North East.

We are delighted to confirm that SPACE Architects and the Stockton Globe has won the Public Sector Project category for the North East in the RICS UK Awards 2022.

RICS describe the project as a “fantastic art-deco project that sees the best of refurbishment, retained facades, and new builds all coming together to provide a striking building that has been transformed into a venue fit for the 21st century”.

Stockton Globe is a £30m project located in Stockton-on-Tees and was mostly funded by the council. It is estimated that the Globe will attract more than 200,000 visitors and is hoped that it will boost the Stockton economy by £18m.

“Since it opened in 2021, the venue has become a hub that entertains and inspires people, a place that can champion cultural life, and a place that meets the Council’s ambitions for regeneration and growth” said David Coundon, Director at SPACE Architects.

Stockton Globe will now go on to compete at the RICS National Grand Final in London on 21 October 2022.
