Planning Approved at Committee for Woodham Academy

SPACE Architects are thrilled to announce that Woodham Academy received planning approval from Committee with no objections yesterday (7th February 2023).

This project includes a three-storey educational block with an accompanying sports building.

Designed in line with "Net Zero Carbon in Operation", the building will fully comply with the current Dfe specification.

Key features of this new 1200-place secondary school include a green roof throughout and indoor swimming pool.

Maximising site legibility, the layout enhances the current community use and playing field provision.

Commenting on the process behind the submission, Andy Forbes, Associate Visualiser at SPACE Architects, explained: "The architectural team providing such a comprehensive 3D model allowed me to concentrate on adding the finer details and injecting the hustle and bustle of school life into the images."

Andy Forbes continued, "Features such as the green roof and surrounding trees beautifully fit the two buildings into their surroundings while translating the project's Net Zero story. I'm pleased with what we produced to such a tight deadline, and I can't wait to see the finished building."

Galliford Try and their design team have worked hard to achieve this approval. SPACE Architects would also like to commend the excellent collective stakeholder involvement of Faithful and Gould, the Dfe and the academy's management team.

With planning consent secured, at SPACE, we look forward to seeing progress on-site and working closely with our collaborators to deliver this fantastic scheme.
